L-Tyrosine

Scientific Name: L-Tyrosin
Chemical formula: C₉H₁₁NO₃
Solubility: Slightly soluble in water (0.45 g/L, 25°C), easily soluble in dilute acid/alkali, insoluble in non-polar solvents
Stability: Light-sensitive (easy to oxidize), need to be stored away from light; easy to form quinone pigments under alkaline conditions.
Appreance: White crystals or powder, odorless, slightly bitter

L-tyrosine is a conditionally essential amino acid, with core functions including:

Neurotransmitter synthesis:

  • Precursor substances: synthesized dopamine (regulating emotions and motivation), norepinephrine (enhancing alertness), and adrenaline (stress response).
  • Used to improve cognitive function under stress (such as sleep deprivation or high-intensity work).
  • Thyroid hormone synthesis: The raw materials that make up thyroxine (T ₄) and triiodothyronine (T3).
  • Melanogenesis: catalyzed by tyrosinase to form skin/hair pigments (deficiency may lead to albinism).

Application areas:

  • Antidepressant/ADHD adjuvant therapy (combined with vitamin B and folic acid).
  • Exercise supplements (reducing psychological fatigue, dosage 500-2000 mg/day).

be careful:

  • Use with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism (may exacerbate hormone secretion).
  • Caution should be exercised when using MAO inhibitors in combination (which may increase blood pressure).
